Suheyla Betul Tuncer is a clinical psychologist and trauma specialist with extensive experience in mental health research, psychotherapy, and humanitarian aid. She specializes in trauma-focused therapy, addiction recovery, refugee mental health, and disaster response, working with diverse populations affected by crisis and displacement.
She holds a Master’s degree in Trauma and Disaster Mental Health from Istanbul Bilgi University and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Istanbul Aydin University. Her research has explored the impact of trauma on addiction treatment and the relationship between self-esteem and marital satisfaction.
Suheyla was the Founder and Senior Psychologist at Korteks Psychological Consultancy Center, where she lead a team providing trauma-informed care. She has also worked with UOSSM, ARFADA, and the Turkish Ministry of Health, offering therapy and psychosocial support to refugees, disaster survivors, and vulnerable communities.
As a humanitarian psychologist, she has responded to major crises, including the Kahramanmaras earthquakes, COVID-19 pandemic, and refugee displacement programs, delivering EMDR therapy, crisis intervention, and resilience-building workshops.
Her work is published in academic journals and psychoeducational materials, and she has trained professionals in trauma-informed therapy and disaster mental health. Now based in Chicago, IL, Suheyla continues to provide therapy, research collaborations, and professional training, committed to improving access to mental health care and supporting those affected by trauma.
